The Moloch remix is another tribute to one of the label's most celebrated classic. Tbh an LP had been planned originally... But with time passing, it became evident at some point that many of the older tunes do not represent Mefjus' new sound today. So the plan changed; most of the older bits will probably never be released, and the two Nu Skool Breaks tunes originally scheduled for the LP will come out somewhere else. By the way, check out Mefjus' new release on KindCrime Recordings (KDC004) from July! And don't miss Mefjus' journey into the bigname realm of Drum and Bass: watch out for his vinyl release together with Fourward, forthcoming on Bad Taste Recordings! (and more collabos with Fourward, Bowser, Kaiza, Xilent and Wreckage Machinery coming out soon on T3K, Abducted and other labels)

This group needs no introduction anymore. And with his solo release on SCPTX and T3K Nufojah has shown his production abilities in his own respect to a satisfying degree. So, not much really has to be said (except that he has also started producing techno). Simply check this tune here, a fine piece of solid and properly rolling Techno-DNB: pumping bass meets halfbar beat and reversed lead synths hacked to pieces in a dark atmo.

"Arsenic" is a rhythmic bouncer, almost completely dry. A proper basic loop made of syncopated bass stabs interplaying with a strong kickdrum and a dry snare, opened up with creative breaks, is all that is needed.

T-FILE026 was a remix of a tune by Kriotek originally released as T-FILE011 in 2008. Now, T-FILE027 is a remix of "Tsar" by Kaiza featuring Isotop and Shots (released in 2009 as T-FREE059), done by Kriotek in 2010. Kriotek are a producer crew consisting of 3 artists from 2 countrys: Proton Kid and Nufojah from Romania and Blastphemik from UK. They experiment with different forms of broken beats in technoid and minimal Drum and Bass, Dubstep and other styles of dance music. Here they have given the tune "Tsar" a proper facelift and demonstrate, along the way, that Techno-DNB is still very much alive and evolving, regardless of internet debates and genre clichés. The remix updates the uncompromisingly percussive concept of the original with a much improved sound, an angry bassline and a massive, pumping beatloop. The result is a thick wall of bouncing rythm and driving energy; in other words: pure awesome. Watch out for Proton Kid's solo productions and do not miss the Kriotek EP forthcoming on T3K!

“Desolation” is a serious, modern Neurofunk bomb on a high quality level that combines the latest minimalist tech-nology with Budoka’s own style and brings a seldomly heard musical element into the soundscape: subtle, spacey “donks” (formerly known as stabs) appearing in a triplet arrangement, remotely similar to the bassline notes in “Echoes.” It goes without saying that the tune fulfills the sound admission requirements for the international top league with ease. Its precise, juicy beat, angry but carefully restrained and condensed midranges and its massive, although hardly accented bassline as an entity do indeed “rinse it out of proper!”

The tune is set in a warm summer night at the ocean and brings precisely this athmosphere into the clubs together with a proper rumbling bassline.

It plays a lot with midrange/bassline combinations, empty space and ancient wooden stabs more common to the historical 1990s period than recent Drum and Bass trends. Tubular is one of the tunes that openly show just how much the early sound of Ed Rush and Optical on Virus has been a key influence and great inspiration to Budoka; like “The Happening” on TILT005 it brings that certain feeling into a strong tune with today’s sound standard.

Budoka, much underrated and overlooked German producer, co-founded the label Tilt-Recordings seven years ago primarily as an outlet for his Drum and Bass productions. Ever since, he has released annual tokens of his constant production improvement on the label’s vinyl series. The material he worked on since the release of TILT010 in 2009 is now ripe and ready to be put out into the world. So, today, he is starting the 2010 season of the label’s digital only series T-Files by delivering a digital EP (it is actually his T-Files solo debut because his only tune on there so far was a collaboration with DJ Malice). Both tunes are techy bits in Budoka’s trademark handwriting, highlighting different aspects of his musical mind: “Echoes” comes in with a dark, mysterious and very catchy theme which instantly draws all listeners’ attention and makes the tune a definite sure shot in combination with its evil, throbbing bassline and deep space soundscape. The tune turns out a heavy roller and proves that Budoka can do more than just generic Neurofunk midrange-tools: he makes deep music for the dancefloor in his own style.

Sinecore, one of the newer faces on the forefront of technoid, dark and hard Belgian Drum and Bass, returns to Tilt-Recordings to delivers a remix of Kriotek‘s “BoRRhot” (originally released as T-FILE011 in 2008). It is very straight forward and technoid to the core, building on the vibe of the original but pushing it to the next level: the remix is free of melodic ballast and has a hard halfbar loop construction just like the original, but the beat sounds are much more compact and the bassdrum arrangement morphs a lot; the lead synth has morphed significantly but is still recognizable and the halfbar bass impulse has changed to a deep rumbling. In the end Sinecore has created a mighty weapon, combining a powerful, seriously technoid drive with playful edits.

Later that year, Structural made the widely celebrated “M3CH4PL3X Promo Mix 2007” which quickly spread the names of Yabol and his Mechaplex crew mates Soccom, Pylon and Switch Technique in the Techno-DNB scene. Two of their tunes were signed to DSCI4 and others got released on Venom Inc, Sinuous, Prspct, Cyba Drum, Substance, Digital Venom, Sinious Audio, Dark Asylum, Impakt, Ruse, Flight Digital and Zardonic Recordings. Now, Yabol honours T-Files with “The Lawnmover Man”, a powerful and twisted yet deep Techno-DNB stomper. It had already been featured in said Promo Mix in 2007 (which, by the way, is still online and downloadable)… and now, two years later, it is finally unleashed.

Redco is a DJ and Producer from Uzhhorod (Ukraine) and an uprising player in the Ukrainian national major league of Drum and Bass. He has been releasing tunes since 2003, his music has been successful on radio stations and on TV, and he has played events all over the country and in surrounding countries, visiting cities like Moscow and Sankt Petersburg, performing on stage with many of the international heavyweights. After having released several albums and getting tunes signed to labels such as DSCI4, Contaminated and Trust In Music, Redco puts out his digital “Soulfunk” LP on Tilt-Recordings / T-Files. It contains a selection of 9 tunes, mostly dancefloor orientated. They cover different sounds and sub-styles ranging from oldschool Neurofunk to more contemporary forms of technoid Drum and Bass.

Austrian Newschool-sidechain-compresison-funk at its best!

After releasing the mighty “Moloch” on Tilt-Recordings TILT008, the hefty “Deadlift” as the first tune on the sublabel/series T-Files and the wicked “Emergence” on the first release of the digital label Break-Fast Audio in 2008 and generously presenting all of us again with “Syrinx” and his “Sourcream RMX” both on T-FREE in 2009, he returns to T-Files once more with this technoid and heavy, yet beautiful and deep roller entitled “Khafra”. I would like to take this opportunity to explicitly say: Thank you for all these tunes you made and gave to the world!

And it is also actually the debut release of Mefjus from Austria. Interestingly, although arranged in driving halfbar loops, the tune has a breakdown countering the musical implication of its loop structure: 40 seconds of nothing but edits... Even the amen break is used here. Overall the tune is overflowing with clever details and funny ideas. Without doubt the world will see more of the talent behind this one!

It starts with a very DJ-friendly intro and a king size standard bridge with a filtered beat, drumroll and all.
From deep down in the underground Budoka appears at the surface of the scene yet again with a solid Neurofunk workout in his own personal sound and style. "Damage Trust Inc" easily stands the dancefloor test and international competition with its powerful sub bassline and phat beat, rolling and pleasing to the ear. And while the tune has a strong sound, there is a lot of open space in for the smooth midranges which also sets a new benchmark in Budoka's production history. The melodic hook makes the tune digestible even for female creatures of the night. With his new studio and a handful of almost finished new tunes in the backhand, Budoka is set to rock 2009. More material from him is sure to come, watch out!

After 5 years of label work, Tilt-Recordings reaches its 10th vinyl release. As most of you know, times are getting harder for the vinyl industry, and the small labels in the niche of technoid Drum and Bass are not exactly the winners. So, more and more tunes will never see a vinyl release, and in order to make them available to the supporters who play tunes from CD/laptop/iPod/etc, the digital-only sublabel/series T-Files has been started in April 2008 and is back since January 2009 with many releases to come. Also, Kaiza has started his own digital-only imprint "T3K" for a similar sound, focussing mainly on Techno-DNB. However, regardless of changing music markets, vinyl is still seen as the major medium in the Drum and Bass circuit and it is still the main love of many DJs - including DJ Hektik of the Tilt-Recordings crew (the guy who runs the label). Therefore TILT010 will not have been the last vinyl release from this camp. In the past six months, Bad Boy Kaiza and the Palatinians have joined forces for a fruitful series of more than 20 collaboration tunes. Isotop and Kaiza even started playing out together as a team of new school digital performers. Here, they went into the studio with insane genius Shots for the hefty waltz "System32", some serious, merciless hard Schranz'n'Bass almost as radical as it can get: The tune has a pattern-based structure of minimal change; it is practically broken down to the plain loops except for the mini-breaks and the subtle deconstruction of the 16-bars-scheme by means of shifting the length of patterns and mini-breaks. Even in this reduced structure there is a build-up, and with all its interwoven counterdynamic call-and-response arrangements between all elements, the tune is mad catchy and invites you to be flexed by its depth while it pounds heavily. A tune to love and hate, this one is sure to mash up dancefloors and minds alike.

It is free of generic neurofunk midranges and the athmosphere stays very clean. There are only some classic Detroit stabs tweaked and twisted with reverb and FX, seemingly working as the lead sounds. But the true main element is rythm itself. A stepper between the styles: Techno with a Drum and Bass beat.

It is an epic, futuristic and innovative piece of music, a big tune in the informal history of technoid Drum and Bass. Yet these guys were hugely and widely underrated back then, and their tunes from this period are still mostly unknown. One of the main reasons is that the russian CD labels like Totally Advanced Music, Resistance Music and Respect Family (on which most of their tunes were released, including two full-length CD albums and features on various compilations) have never been distributed outside of Russia, so our only way of getting to know about this music was the internet. Consequently, only the russian scene and relatively few "neuro-nerds" from the western countries got to hear it. Many worthy tunes like "Jesus Is The Brand" and "The Chip" never saw the light of day in record stores internationally - the only one that actually reached the scene outside Russia was "Techneceum" by Dissident and well known russian artist Paul B which came out on a Renegade Hardware EP in 2002. Eventually, Dissident finally gained some of the attention he deserves years later, with some of his tunes released on labels like Covert Opeeration, Subvert Central and Offshore. In 2006 he even had a much anticipated 3x12" LP scheduled on the Gamma Ray label which, sadly, was never released. Now, 7 years after the original release on Resistance Music, Tilt-Recordings proudly present a re-release of "The Chip", making the tune internationally available for the first time together with the remix by Isotop and Kaiza which carefully takes the original lead theme gradually to new levels...

The bassdrum keeps changing it's position and the tune plays with the halfbar Techno-DNB loop scheme, rhythm and counter-dynamics staying the lead theme.

Over the years, he has finished more than 70 Drum and Bass tunes, almost 30 Hip Hop tunes (as "Oberton", with Eli MC) and also some Techno/House tunes. He has definitely succeeded in the task of creating his own signature sound, has released 20 Drum and Bass tunes (8 are on vinyl, 11 are free downloads) and can be called Germany's most underrated technoid Drum and Bass artist. And he did it again, he made yet another good tune... What else can be said? "Aether" is a strong Neurofunk tool, following the rules of good mixability with an athmospheric intro based on a deep synth line, a decent midrange, a dramatic breakdown, a strong minimalistic beat and a rumbling bassline.

After the well received release of TILT008, the Tilt-Recordings vinyl series took a break. Instead, the digital-only series "T-Files" has been launched and started releasing tunes by artists such as Spinor, Pyro + Mundane, Redco, Kaiza feat. amex + D-Struct, Matt Domino, kr4y, Walder, Tamas and Sunchase - more tunes by other interesting artists on T-Files are to follow soon. Now Tilt-Recordings also returns to releasing tunes on the vinyl series with a tearing Techno-DNB tune by the newcomers Isotop + Shots feat. The Phalanx. Their surprising debut release on T-FREE in January 2008, "Burning Identity", drew attention to Isotop + Shots and brought them quite some respect within the Techno-DNB scene. After their experimental follow-up "Dioxin" on T-Files, Isotop + Shots and their partner The Phalanx now enter the vinyl dragon with their very first collaboration: Tilt-Recordings proudly presents "Assembler", a totally boring tune with a boring beat and a boring bassline. It seems safe to predict that all this boring will instantly put these three Palatines on the world map of Drum and Bass and into the hall of Techno-DNB fame for good.

TThis artist should be well known to people following the releases on Tilt-Recordings, since he was not only the first artist on this label but has also provided many of the tunes being released on it since T!LT#001 in 2003/2004. Also supporting the new digital media, he has put out a series of 3 x 3-EPs on T-FREE in the summer of 2007 (including the remastered "Whiplash" original from 2001 and other gems) and another tune on the well respected .shadybrain imprint in November 2007 ("Under Water"). Now on TILT008, Budoka continues the good work he has done with his former releases: "Ritual" is a phat and juicy Neurofunk DJ-tool with a heavily pumping bassline, decent midrange arrangements woven around oriental strings and a breakdown which surprisingly opens a window to a far out universe full of dark secrets.

TILT008 delivers another solid Neurofunk tune by Darmstadt's finest aka Budoka, and a Techno influenced piece by Spinor, the very third guest artist on the label. It also brings some changes: the releases on this label will not have whitelabel promo runs anymore but come into the shops directly as full artwork copies instead. Then, 3 weeks after the vinyl release, the tunes are made available digitally. Also, there will be no more tunes by the amex + Kaiza duo because amex kicked himself out. Finally, the future is about to see more tunes by guest artists on Tilt-Recordings. Spinor - "Moloch" Located in the Netherlands, Spinor has earned respect in the world of Drum and Bass since 2004 with releases on Dreazz' Triple Vision labels Citrus, Love and Piruh, also he has put out a tune on Crossfire Recordings and on the netlabel T-FREE. Although Spinor is rather known for Neurofunk with deep, melodic pads and midranges, "Moloch" received a lot of respect in the Techno-DNB scene even before its release, even though Spinor is still a relatively new name to this sub genre of Drum and Bass. And now this monstertune has eventually found a proper home on Tilt-Recordings. The intro's dark atmosphere and driving beat make clear where the journey will go, and the powerful drop proves that there is just no alternative to high energy music. No need to say much more about "Moloch", it simply is a sure shot on the dancefloor.

TILT007 contains two remixes (by three, respectively five artists), one of them being the label's second tune by an external artist. DJ support has come by artists such as Ed Rush + Optical, Optiv, Black Sun Empire, State Of Mind, EBK, Pyro, Raiden and Teh Panacea. Johannes Ahlberg - "Pitch The Nature" (Amex + Kaiza RMX): Johannes Ahlberg is a swedish Techno producer and DJ who has recently launched his own vinyl label "Stupid Recordings". Also, he has released two Techno remixes of Amex + Kaiza's "Shrinz" on the netlabel T-FREE. Now, their remix of his "Pitch The Nature" is a proper cross genre collaboration. Originally a Techno tune, Amex + Kaiza transformed it into Drum and Bass, yet it is still more Schranz than Jungle: uncompromisingly hard and percussive, innovative and bouncing Techno-DNB.

The short intro of "Pleasure Ride" builds up the athmo with strings and filtered beat layers, then the drop comes quite directly, and the tune does it with an unusually organic, juicy midrange / bass combination and distinctive percussion works behind the surface of the beat. With this tune, Budoka brings the realisation of his ideas to a higher level and keeps establishing his name in the world of Drum and Bass.

After the massive "Vision" by Pyro + Jesta on the previous release, TILT006 features the label's main artists: amex + Kaiza and Budoka. DJ support on this one has come by selected artists such as Panacea, Masheen, Identity, Pyro, Phono, Flame, and also by the Tilt-Recordings DJs themselves: Bad Boy Kaiza, DJ Hektik, Budoka and DJ Malice. Kaiza and his studio partner amex, Germany's first address for Techno-DNB, have combined their Techno approach with a conceptual theme to a piece of art far beyond the question of dancefloor suitability. "Steam" works well on the dancefloor but it is way more than just a DJ-tool: the whole tune is based on a train on it's tracks both conceptually and sound wise. This theme is used consequently and throughout the entire tune, even the title originates from the impression of a steam locomotive... Intro, breaks, main part and outro play with it, also the lead sounds, stabs and percussion constructions are mainly crafted out of train sounds. The intro is set in a train station: a steam train sets off and becomes faster with it's machine sounds being transformed into a Drum and Bass beat. After a bridge in which you accoustically follow the train on it's tracks, the tune drops with a "breathing midline" (Raiden). In the main part there are several minibreaks and each time, the lead sounds change and the energy level increases until the tune resembles a rushing High Speed Train. The unexpected, sudden and disturbing breakdown literally pushes you into nowhere, making you either laugh or cry - but before you even have time to reflect on what's just happened, the train runs again and the journey continues: "Steam" returns to the breathing midline and again goes full speed, before it finally starts to slow down and the locomotive eventually arrives at it's destination.

With "The Happening", Budoka both shows his respect for the originators of neurofunk and interprets the classical virus sound within his own musical context and style. The tune creates suspense with it's fast upbuilding beat, chords and a thick dark athmosphere formed by the creepy paranoia pads in the intro. Then it drops directly, almost like telling the DJ: "No need to even mix me, I do all the work by myself!" After the drop, the tune seems to be very minimal and dry at first sight while still keeping that organic feeling - you can almost see the bassist plucking his strings. Then chords and heavy midranges start breaking out and weave a complex structure of rhythm- and lead-riffs in a call-and-respone array somewhat like distorted guitars. With it's overall warm organic drums and bass but sharp lead sounds and midranges, the tune lies somewhere between good old funk reminiscences and a technoid future.

TILT005 is the second split release on Tilt-Recordings and includes the label's first tune by external artists: Denmark's finest Pyro along with Jesta from the UK. With 7 years of output on various labels including TOV, Outbreak, Flex, Nerve, Leet, the legendary Aspect and Perspective, the infamous Protogen, Habit, and more, Pyro was also one of the first artists to release tunes on mp3 labels, starting in 2004. And in 2006 he put quite some of his older unreleased tunes out on T-FREE. With forthcoming tunes on Nerve and ELP Collective he is still not slowing down, and it's time to pay tribute to this artist who has been the source of so many good tunes over the past years - by releasing one of these technoid gems on vinyl. Pyro + Jesta - "Vision" 2006: This tune is a techy tool with Pyro's trademark sound, with king size structure, arranged for being mixed, built for nothing less than blasting the clubs and raves with it's massive wall of bass. And after the breakdown, a surprising downbeat interlude and a monstrous build-up, the second drop bounces even more. Unless you trainwreck it like the first DJ ever, this instant smashing sure shot will tear down the dancefloors and move girls and boys, legs and hands. Originally from 2003, "The Vision" had been scheduled for some other labels, but somehow never came out. In 2006, Pyro and Jesta polished it up for TILT005: They updated the sound and made it phat for today's standards and reworked some elements from scratch against all odds - an amazing ammount of work has been put into it. Pyro: "its the audio project from hell"... The resulting tune speaks for itself.

TThe logo side of TILT004 exemplifies the flip side of the label sound: subtle fx and elctronic elements over a huge midrange/sub bass construct and an also rolling yet more organic beat, still keeping some melody. The intro builds up a deep, catchy and almost housy atmosphere only to drop into Budoka`s very own interpretation of massive Neurofunk to tear up dancefloors. Various fills sum up and turn to a further role in the everplaying antagonism between the straight groove and the atmospheric deepness. (The original tune "Whiplash" had been produced in 2001 and got positive feedback on dubplate, but has never been released on vinyl. Now, years later, Budoka has made a remix while upgrading the sound quality to DNB standards of today and adding some new structure and elements, eventually creating a new tune different to the original.)

Following three artist singles, TILT004 is the first split release on Tilt-Recordings. After the sound of Budoka (Darmstadt, Germany) on T!LT#001 and TILT002, the debut tunes by amex/Kaiza (Mannheim, Germany) on TILT003 have gained the interest of the more technoid DNB loving end of the scene. These were followed by two releases on the free mp3 netlabel T-FREE ("Schlontz" by amex/Kaiza and "Invisible Killer" by Budoka), which have been acknowledged in the DNB community all over the world. Now on TILT004 amex/Kaiza and Budoka go for a shared release to bring their two different approaches to technoid DNB together on one vinyl: innovative Techno-DNB and solid Neurofunk. Mannheim's finest deliver another dancefloor-smashing stepper, designed to take the listener on a trip into the world of uncompromising Techno-DNB. Like "Shrinz" it is a harsh and bouncing tool to move everybody`s ass. After a DJ friendly intro, the drop and stabs paying tribute to Detroit, the tune seems to be on it's highest point... But just then it drops deeper into counterdynamic arrangements and doubles the pace. Again, the genuine beat and percussion works in combination with the on-point use of Techno stabs and vocals as lead and rhythmic elements roll the hell out of the devil, displaying the way tunes should be nowadays according to amex/Kaiza's point of view.

the third release on Tilt-Recordings sees the vinyl debut of two upcoming producers from Germany's Drum N Bass capital who have been in the scene for quite some time: Mannheim's very own Bad Boy Kaiza and the incredible bongomax from the Trio-Music crew. Bad Boy Kaiza, co-labelowner of Tilt-Recordings, has been already playing his role in the dnb scene for years with parties, the radio show "DMF", his ragga sideproject "burnin trees" and (last but not least) deejaying. better known for his highly consistent mixsets, Kaiza teamed up here for these two technoid joints with amex, who has been forming his definition of Techno Drum N Bass since 2000 and recently published a lot of his older tunes on the informal free 320' mp3 label T-FREE. and as you can hear from the tunes on this release, these guys sold their souls to the techno devil... amex/Kaiza - "Shrinz": on a solid fundament of techfunk elements with a growling midrange, a very present offbeat bassdrum in combination with the use of innovative stabs, beat samples and many subtle percussion elements in a complex arrangement lead to an outstanding groove and kick this tune beyond everyday-dnb. with it's dynamic hihats, precise hitting beat and percussion elements and vocals working as lead sounds, this is some serious beattechno, funky and driving as hell. it even does not forget to give tribute to detroit, and the mini- breaks are just the icing on the cake. this tune definitely does the bounce!

"Phenomenia" reminds of some of the deeper tunes by the old Cause 4 Concern, "showing deeper affairs with detailed build-ups and minimal, rolling business." It combines well known lead sound designs courtesy of the Guildford based crew with a deep, melancholic atmosphere and the "Wicked city" theme, giving it a second Drum and Bass interpretation after Technical Itch did one 4 years earlier.

"Mindwalker" was nothing less than innovative and unusual at the time of its original release in early 2004 and is still a solid tune by today's standards. It takes over two minutes to build up a beautifully paranoid atmosphere in the intro and kill it in the bridge, then the tune drops with a dry, compressed bassline playing only one key and creating drive with it's syncopated rythm. The tune presents itself as a very reduced and highly technoid stepper. After some shock seconds comes a growling, very unusually sounding midrange in counter-dynamic arrangement with the bassline, and then the tune adds more and more percussion elements, counter-midranges, stabs and occasional pads, building up more and more energy and drive until the breakdown eventually brings it down and back to the intro theme. Then the tune is stripped down to the bassline and one counter-midrange, exposing the naked, breathing compressor before the beat comes back and the tune drops again, this time in full pace. The outro again strips the tune down while leaving the bassline until then end, breaking with the convention of DJ-friendly outros for the sake of musical ideas. At the time of the release, Budoka had been playing guitar in several bands for more than ten years. He was experimenting with acoustic drums, had started deejaying and was in the Phishmaol Crew (most prominent members in the 1990s: Tyrell and MC Santana; most prominent member today: Budoka) in 1996 and had produced Drum'n'Bass tunes since 2000. Together with Eli MC he was also making HipHop as "Oberton" (they released an EP on their label Traumsoldaten Records).
