DJ Hektik is a dedicated DJ who has worked hard on his mixing skills and DJ-sets.
They cover rolling Neurofunk, percussive Techno-DNB and many other styles, precisely
mixed in a coherent arrangement and spiced up further with unique turntable/mixing tricks.

DJ Hektik was studying the techniques of Techno DJs since 1994 and started
mixing Techno himself in 1995, then he fell in love with Drum & Bass in 1997.
The influences there of the Reggae/Dancehall culture (MCing, rewinds etc) and the
strong tool-based approach to tunes, both production and mixing wise, changed his perspective.
The next significant influence in terms of deejaying was Bad Boy Kaiza's theory
of consistent mixing, invented around the millenium and formulated circa 2001.
To DJ Hektik it was (and is) the logical next step after beatmatching/blending
in order to bring mixing technoid dance music to higher levels. Additionally,
DJ Hektik got infected with the Turntablism virus through the "80s Megamix"
mixtape by DJ Spinbad in 2002 and found further inspiration in the audio & video
recordings of DJ Krush and Kid Koala's live performances in Moscow in late 2003.
Their sophisticated ways of playing records to a crowd as a turntablist in a DJ-set
(as opposed to the concept of turntablism contests with 5-minute showcase performances)
inspired DJ Hektik to strive for a practical understanding of their techniques
used to manipulate beats much further than just beatmatching and blending them.
He started to experiment with beatjuggling, strobing and related etchniques and
slowly implemented swift cut- & blend mixing and the real-time construction of intros/breaks
in his live DJ-sets while at the same time working on his own selection approach,
based on results of his interpretative experiences with Kaiza's consistency theory
and increasingly (since 2004) influenced by Kaiza's upbuilding approach to riddim-mixes,
integrating all these inputs with the effective drop- and doubledrop-oriented Drum & Bass
mixing standards.
After years of training and developing, DJ Hektik's DJ sets today show his significantly
advanced technical skills, his very own approach to selection based on upbuilding music streams
and his integrated mixing influences from 4 different DJ cultures.
Besides attempting to evolve the art of mixing to a higher state,
DJ Hektik organized Drum & Bass parties from 1999-2002 as a member of the
Trio-Music crew and built and maintained their websites.
In 2003 he founded the vinyl label "Tilt-Recordings" together with Bad Boy Kaiza and Budoka
and proceeded to manage it and the sister label "T-FREE" until their final shutdowns in 2011.
He also co-hosted the weekly Drum & Bass radio show "DMF" between 2001 and 2011 and
(co-)organized a number of events in the Mannheim/Heidelberg area in Germany over the years.

Nach ersten Mix-Erfahrungen im Jahre 1994 legte DJ Hektik seine Schlagzeugstöcke
beiseite, schaffte sich zwei Plattenspieler und ein Mischpult an und erschliesst
sich seitdem immer mehr Ebenen im Universum des Mixens und Cuttens
(1995 Acid/Techno, seit 1997 Drum & Bass).
Nach verschiedenen Party-Projekten um die Jahrtausendwende konzentrierte DJ Hektik
sein Schaffen verstärkt auf das Weiterentwickeln seiner Skillz, tief im
vielbeschworenen "Underground" abseits der Szene-Öffentlichkeit, und feilt seitdem
mit Passion an immer subtileren Techniken und Styles zwischen Konsistenz und
Turntablism, Welten entfernt von unreflektiertem Promo-Deejaytum oder
eindimensionalem Crowdpleasing. Dabei geht er über das simple Aneinanderreihen von
Tunes hinaus, erforscht verschiedene Methoden und neue Formen des Mixens und wendet
sie praktisch an. Da werden Tunes manipuliert und mit Plattenspielern live
umarrangiert, Breaks selbst gebastelt und Soundfragmente gecuttet und kombiniert;
Vor allem aber zeichnen sich seine Mixes durch kontextbezogene Selektion und ein
ganz eigenes und durchdachtes Mix-Arrangements aus, mit dem Zweck, das in jedem
einzelnen Tune steckende Potential durch den Mix optimal zur Geltung zu bringen:

Live spielt DJ Hektik im weitesten Sinne "technoiden Drum & Bass", beschränkt sich
damit aber nicht auf solche Schubladen wie Neurofunk, Liquid oder Clownstep, denn:

DJ Hektik betreibt außerdem die Labels "Tilt-Recordings" und "T-FREE",
co-hostet die wöchentliche Radiosendung "DMF - Das Magische Fünfeck" und
veranstaltete im Laufe der Jahre verschiedene Events in der Mannheimer Gegend.
